Experienced Finishing and/or Senior Carpenter
Description

The Experienced Finishing and/or Senior Carpenter position is geared towards an individual who possesses a keen eye for detail, is able to do custom work when required, can problem solve, and who is task driven to complete project deficiencies that exceed our clients' expectations.  Ideally this person possesses a strong set of leadership skills and who can fill in for the Site Superintendent as required.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Journeyman Carpenter (Red Seal) preferred but will consider minimum 3 years of field supervision experience or a combination of relevant education and experience
  • 8+ years of experience working as a carpenter in a luxury/custom home setting
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Own vehicle and clear Drivers Abstract
  • Must have own hand tools
  • OFA training is considered an asset
  • Display strong ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Prior experience and familiarity with making custom concrete forms is considered an asset

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Able to ensure the execution of construction processes are carried out thoroughly
  • Able to lead a team under the direction of the site supervisor for additional support
  • Skilled in rough and finish carpentry work
  • Be knowledgeable and familiar with construction documents, drawings,
    and local building codes
  • To construct various architectural components based on provided
    blueprints
  • To inspect finished materials for quality and accuracy
  • Arrive on site prepared for work with the tools necessary to complete required tasks
  • Assist Site Superintendent with the coordination and scheduling of other trades
  • General housekeeping including maintaining a tidy and orderly job site
  • Moving/loading/unloading various materials
  • Setup/removal of protection material for finished work (i.e. laying melamine, laying drop sheets, setting up plastic coverings, etc.)
  • To build and install millwork plus concrete forms
  • To construct high end back-framing (fireplaces, roofs, etc.)
  • To support the site superintendent in assigned tasks
  • To liaise with clients, sub-trades, and various stakeholders
  • Keep orderly records of mileage, job receipts and accurate time-sheets
  • If required, assist Project Manager/Estimator in preparing quotes
  • Various other tasks as required
